Remember that ice is never really safe.
Even if ice is a foot thick in one area, just a few feet away it can be only inches thick
Never trust the ice, It's safety can be influenced be many things

Ice that formed on Cooks Bay (Gilford Area) has created a great base and will only improve with these temperatures. Today we did find area's that was 8-11". With the temperature today and tonights forecasted low temp. We HAVE safe ice.
READ DOWN
There is ice further up the bay but as you go north the base of ice diminish's relatively fast. In Lefroy we found area's with 5-7". This condition will change fairly fast with these great ice making temperature's
READ DOWN
Further up Cooks Bay in Alcona area (Innisfil Beach) we found great ice forming with 4-6" of hard ice. This weather will do nothing but make great ice.

from what we have found in our test holes.
This does not in any way give you the assumption that the report is correct or for the entire bay. Our Lake Simcoe Reports are based on the location it refers to only. Even then caution and common sense must come into play. We only check a few area's and give our opinion. So we cannot guarantee the ice is the same everywhere.
Ice should never be considered safe. From current's to underwater hazards, Many factors can change ice conditions in a matter of a few feet.
